A local organisation marking its 25th anniversary is celebrating success after its MD completed a challenging boxing match [last Saturday] as part of the firm’s goal to raise £25K for charity.
Orton Group’s Managing Director, Andrew Lowe, took part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing match at the Wolverhampton Civil Hall on Saturday 1st October in aid of Cancer Research UK which saw him add significant funds to the £25,000 target which the company is raising for five worthwhile charities as part of its birthday.
Through ticket sales of the boxing match and donations via Just Giving, and with employees taking part in events throughout the summer including the Tough Mudder obstacle course in Cheshire and a climb and descent of Mt Snowdon’s challenging Pyg and Miner’s Track routes, Orton Group has now raised £10,115.18, over 42% of its target.
Andrew Lowe explained: “I’ve been on an intensive training and fitness programme for months to compete in this match and build up strength against my opponent, and I’m so pleased that it was a success. As a team, we’ve managed to raise 42% of our target by taking part in these events throughout the summer, and thanks to the fantastic support we’ve received from each other, family and friends, and clients and partners.
“To have reached our 25th anniversary in business is a huge cause for celebration and which is why we decided give something back. We’ve had great fun along the way and have even more events planned in the coming months and into the new year, including a mountain bike challenge, a charity football match, a disco and a quiz night.”
The firm’s chosen charities are Cancer Research UK, the Peter Pan Nursery for Children with Special Needs, the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
“We’re so thankful to everyone who has supported us so far and we’d encourage anyone who wants to help us get to our £25,000 target to visit our Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Orton25. Every penny counts!” he concluded.
