Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed mobile phone provider Three’s response to his calls to enhance network coverage in South Staffordshire.
Gavin recently called the Chief Executives of EE, Three, O2 and Vodaphone to revisit plans to strengthen mobile phone service for residents and local businesses in the area. The Chief Executive of 3 has said that this year a roll out of 4G will be undertaken in South Staffordshire as a bid to boost mobile signal in rural and semi-rural areas.
Gavin has been contacted by residents from Kinver who rely on mobile phone signal in eScreen Shot 2015-01-29 at 10.18.32mergencies such as those who work for the Kinver first responders, who currently struggle to find a reliable signal during working hours. The lack of phone signal has also impacted upon local businesses and residents who rely on mobile phones in case of emergency.
Gavin said: “The issue of the lack of mobile phone signal in South Staffordshire is a very important one. I am pleased that Three mobile has come back to me on improving their plans to boost mobile phone coverage and I am urging other mobile phone networks that I have contacted such as , EE, O2 and Vodaphone to look at plans to try and boost the service around the area.
“It is extremely important in situations such as that of the Kinver first responders, who depend on reliable mobile phone coverage to save lives, that we do all we can to urge networks to speed up their roll out plans so signal in these areas can be boosted.
“I think it is very important to make sure we have a good reception not just in Kinver, but all surrounding rural areas not only just to support local businesses and residents, so that we can do everything we can to help support our community.”
