The other day I noticed a big sign saying ‘Cheese of the Week’.
I popped in and met the great people at The Cheese Chambers.
The Cheese Chambers is run by Herefordshire born Wendy Chambers. After years of gaining experience with a Herefordshire Cheesemaker, she decided to open her own specialist cheese shop in the heart of the Midlands.
After a lengthy search, Wendy decided to set up in her husbands home village of Wombourne.
The Cheese Chambers is a member of the Heart of England Fine Food Society (HEFF) and Wendy is concentrating on finding, promoting and selling local produce from within the West Midland Counties.
Weekly tastings are offered from the ‘Cheese of the Week’ menu board and along with local ewes, goats and cows milk cheeses she also carries a variety of continental cheese, sourced through local suppliers.
A complementary range of local pickles, chutneys and jams along with local real ales, ciders and perrys are also offered.
Wendy says “although it is a tough time to start a business, the people of Wombourne have made me very welcome and I am getting an encouraging, positive feedback from my customers. I believe that ‘keeping it local’ is the way forward”.

Anyway, the Cheese Chambers appears to have been taken over by the bread shop/Deli from Bridgnorth High Street. This is great because they make the very best Chicken Liver Paté I have found anywhere around here. The range of cheese still looks good but they now have the paté, bread and all sorts of other stuff. Parking is not easy but it is possible and the shop is well worth a look.
Like some other Wombourne shops, it will close if it is not used.
we are trying to locate ‘delice de creme’ cheese, absolutely fantastic, creamy, light and moreish. Any body know where we can purchase this cheese without the expensive delivery chargers from France!!
