The cold weather is bringing out the criminals.

Staffordshire police have issued the following advice to staying safe in the cold weather.

How you can stay safe in cold weather

There has been an increase of stolen cars over the past week due to the cold weather and leaving cars unattended while defrosting:  DO NOT leave you vehicle unattended with the engine running whilst you leave it to defrost on these cold and frosty mornings. It only takes a few seconds for an opportunist thief to steal your car.

Please take care on the icy roads

Give yourself extra time to get to your destination safely.

Have basic winter breakdown kits in your car if possible such as a scraper, de-icer, jump-start cables and warm clothes.

Drive safe!
